Tattie Bogle Competition

Ghosts and ghouls and competitions for schools; Cultivate’s Tattie Bogles.

Owing to the great creativity and success of last year we’re relaunching our Tattie Bogle Competition and we’re inviting YOU to take part!

A tattie bogle is a traditional Scottish scarecrow, ‘dressed in auld claes and uised tae discourage birds’ from eating or disturbing the crops.

So we are challenging you to design your own! You can either:

1: Make your own tattie bogle from recycled materials and display at home or in your garden. Perhaps you have some old clothes in your cupboard, a wee summer hat, or an old coffee bean sack that you could stuff and prop up with a mop? Simply create your mannequin and take a picture to send to us! Or,

2: Draw, paint, or sketch your own tattie bogle. You can used an A4 sheet of paper with your art materials or design on a computer. What would your tattie bogle wear? Would they be colourful or dark? Covered in sequins or perhaps have stick on goggly eyes. Once you’ve drawn, painted, sketched, or designed on a computer your tattie bogle you can email us your creation or post it to our office! If you’re still looking for other ways to take part finally you could,

3: Dress up as a tattie bogle and send us a terrifying picture! Use things you could find around your house or maybe things you have picked up on your walk. You can take a picture at home or if you’re out and about there may be a garden or field you could stand in to pretend you actually are a tattie bogle!

However you choose to take part we encourage you to be creative and have fun. There will be a prize for each category and we will try and share all the creations online.

If you’re struggling for ideas why not download our Tattie Bogle Competition Online Template-2 and see where your creativity takes you!
